It is a Center that invests and supports young entrepreneurs and small businesses with viable ideas in the agriculture sector to thrive. KIC provides entrepreneurs with leadership training, mentorship and  network of support, as well as potential access to seed funding from KIC or other entities willing to invest in start-ups. The Business Booster is a 5-month growth and acceleration program targeted at Ghanaian owned Micro Small Medium Enterprises (MSMEs and Farmer Based Organizations). This program component seeks to strengthen and spur the growth of existing MSMEs in agriculture and agriculture adjacent sectors in Ghana that have demonstrated potential and are ready to scale. This year, the program aims to target more entrepreneurs than previous years, by  targeting in addition, Farmer Based Organisations including Associations and Cooperatives. In sum, the Booster is an Investor readiness program. Additionally, there are two application pathways. One for women-owned small enterprises and Farmer-Based Organizations and another application pathway for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).

The support will include improvements in your business operations, and investor readiness through intensive business development support and coaching, investor readiness courses as well as facilitation of business relationships and providing of networking opportunities.

Yes the application is open to businesses in all sixteen regions of Ghana.

The Business Booster program will admit agri-MSMEs that have the potential to scale and are not more than 3 years in existence. These businesses include agro-processors, agribusinesses, aggregators, nucleus farmers, and agriculture service providers.

The determining date for when the business has been in existence is the date of business registration or incorporation.

Capacity building sessions will be conducted through Bootcamps to be organized backed by some virtual sessions throughout the duration of the program. 

During the Bootcamp, each business will be required to be represented by the business owner and another key staff member who is in a decision-making capacity within the organization. The virtual sessions are open to every employee deemed fit to participate.

KIC will leverage its partnerships with corporate bodies and institutions such as the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MOTI)/ Ghana Enterprise Agency to support and build the capacity of agri-MSMEs.

It is expected that each region will hold its Bootcamp at an agreed location. The virtual sessions will be done to introduce a masterclass on relevant topics.

KIC would not provide direct financial support, however the intervention/ activities of the booster program is expected to make the business investor ready.

All trainings will be free, but KIC would not cover transport to training centers, this cost must be borne by the individuals (trainees).
