Adoi Basic School saw the advertisement for entry into the School Farm Competition. This was a great opportunity to enrol the school for a life-changing initiative that gives students hands-on skills in agriculture, science, and innovation

But there was one big challenge. They had no land. For many schools, that would have been the end of the story. But in Adoi, it was just the beginning.

A Chief who refused to let opportunity slip away

When Nana Kwesi Anomako IV, Chief of Adoi, heard about the situation, he didn’t hesitate.

He stepped forward and made land available himself so the students could join the program.

For him, it was about the future.

“Our children deserve opportunities that will prepare them for the future. When I heard about the School Farm Program, I knew we could not let the school’s lack of land stop them. This is an investment in our children and in the future of Adoi,” he said.

Because of his decision, students who once had no access to practical agricultural training are now learning how to grow crops, understand science through farming, and build confidence in their abilities.

Growing more than crops

Through the KIC School Farm Program, students are not just farming. They are learning about climate-smart agriculture, teamwork, leadership, and innovation. They are discovering that agriculture is not punishment, it is a resource for food security, jobs and innovation.

They are beginning to see themselves as future agripreneurs, scientists, and leaders.

Leadership that changes lives

The Executive Director of Kosmos Innovation Center, Benjamin Gyan-Kesse, says this kind of leadership is exactly what communities need.

“When traditional leaders step forward to support education and innovation, they unlock opportunities that can transform entire communities. Nana Kwesi Anomako IV’s action shows what true leadership looks like, harnessing environments for young people to learn, grow, and build their future. Across Ghana, through the School Farm program, more than 81,000 young people have been trained.

One Decision. A Lifetime of Impact.

Because one Chief said yes, students in Adoi now have access to opportunities that will shape their lives forever.

His story is a reminder that real leaders don’t just lead for today, they lead for the future.

And in Adoi, the future is already growing.
