Innovation is the heartbeat of KIC’s mission. Since its inception, the center has been at the forefront of developing bold, youth-led solutions that respond to real challenges within the agriculture value chain. Through strategic programs, capacity-building efforts, and targeted funding, KIC is not only empowering the next generation of agripreneurs but also redefining what innovation looks like in agriculture, while also providing employment opportunities for young people through entrepreneurship.

At the heart of KIC’s approach is the belief that innovation is not just about technology, it’s about new ways of thinking, solving problems, and creating systems that are sustainable, scalable, and inclusive. Whether through precision farming solutions, agritech platforms, post-harvest processing tools and technology, or climate-smart agriculture models, KIC continues to unlock the creative potential of young people across Ghana.

A Hub for Youth-Driven Innovation to promote agricultural development

Through flagship programs such as the AgriTech Challenge, Business Incubation, Women Bootcamp, and Business Booster, KIC has supported hundreds of young entrepreneurs to design and grow solutions that respond to the country’s most pressing agricultural needs. Many of these solutions leverage technology, data, and local knowledge, bridging the gap between traditional farming and modern agribusiness. KIC recently also included the Young Farmer Business Academy and the Young Agripreneur Forum to its program portfolio that are also helping to drive innovative ways of commercial farms and participation of young people across the entire agricultural value chain.

In collaboration with partners such as the Mastercard Foundation, KIC ensures that innovation is accessible and inclusive, reaching not only urban communities but also young people and women in rural areas, equipping them with the tools and mindset to drive transformation.

Real Impact, Real Change

Over the years, KIC has helped launch and grow several successful startups, some of which have gone on to win national and international recognition for their innovative contributions to food systems, sustainability, and economic development. The ripple effect of this impact can be seen in the form of job creation, improved livelihoods, and increased resilience among farming communities. Through KIC’s programs, more than 47,864 young people are in active work.

Reflecting on KIC’s journey, Benjamin Gyan-Kesse, Executive Director of Kosmos Innovation Center, shared: “At KIC, innovation is a commitment to unlocking potential, solving real-world problems, and creating lasting impact. Our journey has been one of bold experimentation, youth empowerment, and partnership for the development of the agricultural sector.

As we celebrate World Innovation Day, KIC remains committed to nurturing ideas, investing in talent, and creating an enabling ecosystem where innovation can thrive.

Kosmos Innovation Center (KIC) proudly celebrates its ongoing contribution to shaping a culture of innovation in Ghana, particularly within the agribusiness and entrepreneurship space.
