Kosmos Innovation Center (KIC), through its Women’s Bootcamp, has successfully trained women in cereal mix production in Kadjebi, Oti Region, as part of its inclusive agribusiness and entrepreneurship training.
Working in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation, KIC aims to equip young women with practical and employable skills for job creation and employment. The training introduced participants to the nutritional and commercial value of cereal-based foods, equipping them with practical skills in blending, processing, and packaging cereal mixes suitable for households, local markets and in line with pediatric nutrition best practices.
Representing KIC at the training, Mercy Tuffour, Gender and Safeguarding Specialist at KIC emphasized the importance of quality control, hygiene, and branding, as well as basic business management principles.
To ensure that participants could immediately use skills and knowledge acquired from the training, KIC provided each young woman with a startup kit, including mixing bowls, packaging materials, sealers, and ingredients, enabling them to launch or improve their own micro-enterprises in cereal production.
“Through the KIC Women’s Bootcamp, we are unlocking income-generating potential within rural communities. The cereal mix training offers a practical, low-barrier entry into agribusiness for women who are eager to improve their livelihoods.” said Mercy Tuffour.
Through the Women’s Bootcamp, KIC continues to foster practical, and profitable agribusiness ventures for women, contributing to job creation, nutrition security, and economic inclusion across Ghana.
