The Kosmos Innovation Center (KIC) will host a Demo Day at its Center of Excellence in Kumasi on 30 October 2026, opening the doors of the facility to the public and providing an opportunity for innovators, entrepreneurs, industry players, students and other stakeholders to experience its capabilities firsthand.
Established with support from the Mastercard Foundation, the KIC Center of Excellence is a multidisciplinary innovation and prototyping hub designed to help young innovators and entrepreneurs move from ideas and prototypes to practical, market-ready products.
The Center provides access to specialised spaces and equipment across several areas, including Food Innovation, CAD, Mechatronics and Mechanics, Metal Fabrication, and Woodwork and Fabrication. These facilities are designed to support product development across agriculture, manufacturing, engineering, construction, information technology, energy, extractives and other related sectors.
At the heart of the Center’s offering is a focus on bridging the gap between an idea and a commercially viable product. Through access to technical infrastructure, equipment and product development support, innovators can test, refine and advance their concepts towards production and market entry.
The Food Innovation Lab, for example, provides an environment for entrepreneurs to develop and refine food products, while the engineering and fabrication units enable innovators to design, prototype and develop physical products and machinery.
Bringing Ideas to Life
The Demo Day forms part of KIC’s broader effort to increase awareness and utilisation of the Center and make its innovation infrastructure accessible to a wider community of entrepreneurs, innovators, institutions and industry stakeholders.
Speaking ahead of the event, Benjamin Gyan-Kesse, Executive Director of KIC, emphasized the importance of providing young entrepreneurs with the infrastructure needed to turn innovation into tangible products.
“Supporting young entrepreneurs goes beyond providing training and funding. We must also provide access to the infrastructure, equipment and technical capabilities they need to develop, test and bring their ideas to life.”
He noted that access to appropriate machinery and product development infrastructure can play an important role in helping young innovators move from concepts to solutions that can respond to real market needs.
As KIC marks 10 years of advancing youth entrepreneurship and innovation, the Center of Excellence represents an important addition to the organisation’s ecosystem of support for young people and businesses.
By providing a platform where innovators can design, prototype, test and develop products, the Center aims to contribute to a stronger pipeline of locally developed solutions and support the growth of Ghana’s entrepreneurial and innovation ecosystem.
The Demo Day on 30 October will therefore serve not only as an introduction to the Center’s facilities, but also as an invitation to innovators, businesses, institutions and other stakeholders to explore how the facility can support the development of the next generation of products and solutions.
