Fortune Coffee is brewing social transformation through agribusiness development

Kosmos Innovation Center (KIC) in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation continues to empower youth-led and women-led agribusinesses across Ghana through its Business Booster Program, designed to scale innovative enterprises into sustainable, impactful businesses. One such inspiring story is Fortune Coffee, a dynamic business that is not only redefining coffee culture in West Africa but also creating opportunities for farmers and communities.

Through the KIC Business Booster Program, the business has gained access to tailored training, mentorship, and networking opportunities to improve its operations and expand its reach. The support has also enabled the company to explore new market linkages and position itself as a competitive player in the agribusiness space.

From bean to cup – a story of sustainable sourcing and community development

Fortune Coffee sources coffee beans directly from Ghana and Liberia, focusing on supporting local farmers, especially women with fair market opportunities. By building strong relationships across the coffee value chain, Fortune Coffee is helping to strengthen livelihoods while showcasing the rich coffee heritage of West Africa to the world.

As a women-led business, Fortune Coffee demonstrates the transformative power of women in agribusiness. The founder emphasizes the role of women not only as farmers but as decision-makers and entrepreneurs driving innovation. Their leadership has created a ripple effect, inspiring other women to venture into agribusiness and proving that women are key actors in shaping Africa’s agricultural future.

“At Fortune Coffee, every cup tells a story of farmers in Ghana and Liberia committed to sustainable practices, of women leading agribusiness with passion, and of our dream to bring Africa’s unique coffee flavors to the world. Through innovation and community empowerment, we are brewing more than coffee — we are brewing change,” affirms Fortune Agbele, Co-founder, Fortune Coffee

Fortune Coffee is not just about producing high-quality, pesticide-free coffee. It is about building a brand that reflects sustainability, inclusivity, and community impact. By tapping into technology, innovation, and ethical sourcing, the business is positioning itself as a champion for climate-smart agribusiness and fairer trade.
