JAASGROW: Turning Organic Waste into Power for Farmers

Empowering Ghana’s Farmers with Innovative, Sustainable Solutions

In Ghana’s evolving agricultural landscape, young innovators are leading the charge to create homegrown solutions to some of the sector’s biggest challenges. Among these changemakers is Abdul Mueez Otoo, Co-Founder of JAASGROW Limited, a fast-rising agribusiness venture supported by Kosmos Innovation Center (KIC) in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation.

JAASGROW is focused on one powerful idea: transforming organic waste into a cost-effective, dual-purpose product that functions as both fertilizer and pesticide. This locally made organic solution is designed to help farmers increase yields, improve soil health, and reduce their dependence on expensive imported agrochemicals.

“Our mission at JAASGROW is to support smallholder farmers with a sustainable product that protects crops while nourishing the soil — all while using organic waste that would otherwise go unused,” said Abdul Mueez Otoo.

Innovation Rooted in Sustainability

At its core, JAASGROW is tackling two problems at once: agricultural productivity and environmental sustainability. By using readily available organic materials, the company is helping to reduce farming costs and minimize environmental harm, while boosting food security across the country.

Their innovation aligns closely with KIC’s commitment to nurturing agribusinesses that generate impact-driven, market-ready solutions. Through mentorship, business development training, and funding support, KIC has played a vital role in JAASGROW’s growth trajectory.

“At KIC, we believe the future of agriculture lies in bold, local innovations like JAASGROW. This is a business that is not only solving a real problem for farmers but doing so sustainably and affordably. We are proud to support young entrepreneurs like Abdul Mueez who are redefining what agribusiness can be.”

Supporting the Next Generation of Agripreneurs

JAASGROW’s journey is a testament to what young Ghanaian entrepreneurs can achieve when given the right tools, training, and opportunities. As part of the KIC Incubation Program, the team has undergone rigorous business coaching and has received validation for their solution from both experts and farmers.

“We’ve seen incredible interest from farmers in the regions we’ve piloted. They’re excited about a product that works and saves them money,” said Otoo.

With plans to scale production and expand distribution across multiple regions, JAASGROW is poised to become a key player in Ghana’s organic agriculture sector. The team is also exploring partnerships with local waste management groups to create a more circular and impactful value chain.

As Ghana and the wider continent look for climate-smart and cost-effective farming inputs, JAASGROW stands out as a model for youth-led agribusiness innovation that delivers both economic value and environmental impact.
