KIC Fellowship and Blossom Academy Empower Agritech Entrepreneurs with Data Skills

The KIC Fellowship, in partnership with Blossom Academy, hosted a virtual Data Workshop aimed at equipping agritech entrepreneurs with practical data analytics skills to strengthen their businesses. The session, led by data professional Victor Bolade, highlighted the transformative role of data in modern agriculture.

Victor emphasized that data-driven decision-making is no longer optional for agribusinesses seeking growth, profitability, and resilience. He explained data analytics as the process of collecting, organizing, and examining data to uncover insights that reduce risk, improve productivity, and attract investor confidence.

Participants were introduced to practical tools such as dashboards for operational monitoring, automated data collection systems, and machine learning applications that support prediction and informed planning. The workshop also underscored the relevance of adopting evidence-based strategies rather than relying solely on intuition—especially in a sector where traditional methods still dominate.

A key highlight of the session was the discussion on optimizing farm operations through tailored dashboards, IoT-enabled data collection, and timely performance analysis. Victor encouraged entrepreneurs to actively collaborate with data professionals to build competitive advantages, increase efficiency, and explore opportunities for data monetization.

The workshop further stressed the importance of community engagement in data initiatives. By training young people as digital farm officers, agribusinesses can strengthen their data collection processes while also creating local employment opportunities—ensuring that both business and community benefit.

The session reinforced KIC’s commitment to supporting agritech entrepreneurs with the digital skills needed to navigate an increasingly data-driven agricultural landscape.
