Kosmos Innovation Center (KIC) has established a Center of Excellence in Ejisu, Kumasi, as part of efforts to promote accessibility of maker centers for young start-ups and entrepreneurs within the country and sub-region, as they develop innovative solutions to support the agricultural and agri-adjacent sectors.
The KIC Center of Excellence – Kumasi is aimed at empowering young entrepreneurs in Ghana to develop innovative solutions for the agricultural sector. The KIC Center of Excellence – Kumasi comprises 6 specialized maker centers designed to facilitate the development of agricultural technologies and innovations. These centers will be instrumental in transforming ideas into tangible, market-ready solutions.
The KIC Center of Excellence – Kumasi has been set up with support from the Mastercard Foundation to bring many young people into work, through entrepreneurship.
The Center of Excellence comprises the following innovation maker centers:
Food Innovation Center
The center will provides facilities for testing and developing new food products, new ways of food processing, packaging and safety.
Electronics Center
This will serve as the nerve enter for the development of electronic components crucial to modern agricultural technologies.
Mechatronics Center
This center is essential for the development of smart, automated agricultural machinery and systems.
Computer Design Center
This Center is dedicated to the digital conception and visualization of agricultural products and systems.
Metal Fabrication Center
This center will be responsible for the creation of durable, high-strength metal components and structures essential for agricultural machinery and tools.
Woodwork Center
This center will caters for projects requiring wooden components, offering tools and equipment for cutting, shaping, and assembling wood.

The KIC Center of Excellence – Kumasi is expected to serve Start-ups from KIC’s Business Incubation Program as well as start-ups who would like to access the services of any of the 6 maker centers for regulatory prototyping, design and fabrication.
